Welcome Dinner

Theme: The Silk Road

September 3rd, 2025
6:00PM

For the first night, we’d like to welcome you to the Silk Road. We thank you all for traveling to this “distant and foreign land” to celebrate our marriage with us. The Silk Road was a place of great knowledge and culture sharing. We invite you to bring your cultural wedding attire to celebrate with us. This can be past cultural events you’ve attended, or sharing your own culture with us. May it be your first time wearing your cultural attire to connect with your heritage or your tenth wedding in your outfit, we hope you feel welcome to share your culture with us. As we embark on our new life together, we hope to create the same beautiful atmosphere for all. Feel free comfortable to wear American/European smart casual, also. Collared shirt or polo and pants or any creative interpretation you’d like to make.

Movie Reference: Casablanca (1942) set in Morocco. Morocco was a key place in the Silk Road. The story speaks about a couple who reconnects in Morocco during WWII longing for a simpler time when they were together in Paris last. “We’ll always have Paris.” A romance set in a distant and foreign place, where the couple reminisces about their time in Paris is drawing connecting to our engagement under the Eiffel Tower in the Trocadero Gardens.

Wedding Day

Theme: Secret Garden in Provence
September 4th, 2025
3:00 PM

Pleases wear colorful & floral attire to celebrate a Jewish garden wedding set in Provence. Wedding party and family who want to feel close to the wedding can wear any shade of blue. Any guest can wear blue, as well.

We will be signing a ketubah, a Jewish marriage contract, and be officiated under a chuppah, a Jewish ceremony alter for weddings. The chuppah is made with four posts representing the home we will create together. We will smash the glass! After the ceremony, we will have the hora where about eight guests will lift the bride and group up on chairs to celebrate their joining. We will have kippas for the men (or women if you choose).

Literary Piece: A Year in Provence by Peter Mayle. A beautifully written book that will transport you straight to Provence. It’s written about his own travels from London and how he slowly adjusts from the city life to never wanting to leave the French Countryside. YouTube tv show adaptation (link).

Movie adaptation: A Good Year (2006) starring Russel Crowe and Marion Cotillard (Maud from Inception) directed by Ridley Scott. We almost licked the venue next to his estate, but we chose not to because they had an early curfew to not disturb Ridley Scott.

Farewell Brunch

Theme: French Farmers Market
September 5th, 2025
12:00 PM

A casual brunch to say goodbye! Enjoy some time by the pool with us before you head out on your travels.

Movie Reference: Paris Can Wait (2016) starring Diane Lane, Arnaud Viard, and Alec Baldwin. Stuck with her husband’s business partner, a Californian and an Frenchman embark on a journey to get to Paris from the South of France. It should only take a day, but there’s so much to see in France and Provence! It encapsulates how we feel about loving Paris, but also discovering other parts of France. This is a great movie comparing California and Provence and symbolizes our movie to California! SPOILER AERT ABOUT THE EDNING COMING UP HERE IN THE NEXT SENTENCE PLEASE STOP READING IF YOU DO NOT WANT ANY SPOILERS. At the end of the movie, he asks to see her again in California driving down highway 1 and compares it similarly to France. Even if they aren’t actually in France and California is not actually really like France, they’ll be together.
